Biography
I've spent the past 12 years in innovation and commercial focussed roles across Universities, large corporates and scale up SMEs. I started with the UWE led ERDF Innovation Networks programme as a business development manager for the Cleantech iNet. This led to a role in the Service Innovation team at Serco PLC. More recently I've held roles at Bath University, where I built experience of the creative sector as part of the founding team of the ESPRC Digital Economy centre, CAMERA; and then private sector people analytics software company, Cognisess, where I was Head of Commercial and Innovation. After 2 invaluable years, which included securing the company's first global license deal, I returned to HE and the creative industries to become Operations Director of the MyWorld Creative Technology programme at the University of Bristol.
Academically, I'm originally a History and Philosophy graduate, but chose to focus on business and innovation through a Masters in Strategic Entrepreneurship. I'm now working on a doctorate in Higher Education Management in my spare time, investigating University-Industry R&D collaborations, and how the individuals employed to create and manage those relationships affect overall organisational performance in this area.
